A reliable source has told me that Viagra is being tested for effectivenes in treating pulmonary edema, although the FDA hasn't given Pfizer the indication for this yet. Makes sense to me though. If it rushes blood to the male extremity, think what it would rush to the heart! Makes me also wonder if it could also prevent cerebral edema, and altitude sickness altogether. It may be worth testing in the field, although it would require wearing loose shorts (Sorry, I couldn't resist)!

Any doctors out there care to weigh in on this?

Pulmonary edema is such a tiny indication that there is no way Pfizer would even attempt to get FDA approval for it. The clinical trials would cost many multiples of the market size. The most that could happen is a small trial, probably independent, that would not lead to a formal FDA approval.
