I have a small tear (2") in the Gore-Tex/Taslan nylon uppers of my OR Crocodille gaiters. Any recomendations on a good way to patch this tear?

Thanks !

Hiya, Scott. I had the same thing last year, and repaired them until the tears outnumbered the intact fabric... crazy

What I did was duct tape on the inside, then tent sealer over the outside of the tear. Wait for a day to dry, then cover the outside tear w/ tent sealant tape (clear, in this case). Seemed to work pretty, well, but I've since gone through three more pairs of gaiters... eek Yeah, I'm a little hard on my gear.

There's a company named Kenyon which make Goretex tape in different colors. IIRC, it's about 2"x36" in a small box and is < $5 or so. Good stuff - super sticky, waterproof, not as strong as duct tape but lasts a bit longer and sticks better. If you're repairing a pair of shell pants/jacket (do both sides) you can regard the repair as more or less permanent, but with gaiters you wear regularly, it may last about a year.

Eventually you may decide to invest in a pair of OR Expedition Crocs. Mine have the inside leg of 1000d Cordura. Not bulletproof, but far better than the standard gaitor.

Thanks for all your input.

I have bought a 'stick it and heat it up' Gore-Tex patch kit, and will give it a try.

Lets see.

Where was that darn iron??????
