I am trying to figure out where to fly into and how to get between trail heads. Can anyone suggest a shuttle service or other method of getting between the trail heads?

It's a long ways around for sure, you should pay someone to go with you and drop your vehicle off at whitney portal and then get dropped off at crescent meadows.

From last year: Shuttle from Whitney Portal to Crescent Meadow
But I think I have seen it posted somewhere that some new runs have been added on the east side.

Consider flying into southern Ca. then using public transportation. It is expensive to fly into Fresno, Visalia or Bakersfield.

Chris:
In Aug 2008, we faced similar issue when we ran out of vacation time - during our trans-sierra hike, starting at Bubbs ck and ending in WP. We had help from David Sheldon of Lone Pine who runs occasional taxi service. He took us to Ridgecrest where we rented a car and drove back to hwy 180 trail head in KC NP and recovered the parked car. We returned the rental in Visalia. His phone number can be found if you search this chat room. All the best in your adventure!

I've actually found Fresno to be among the cheapest to fly into... I'm planning a HST hike around labor day and flight from charlotte, nc to fresno, ca is showing about $260 R/T. flying into San Diego is around $305. haven't checked LA yet but really don't care to fly into LA.

$260 into Fresno is fantastic!

Last fall, we drove 2.5 hours to San Jose to get a direct flight to Chicago for $400. Fresno to Chicago was much more.

Depending on where you are at in Ohio, check out flights out of Pittsburgh(PIT).
Our crew is doing a round trip flight: PIT to Visalia then Reno to PIT. Midweek rates are at $330. Right now we are looking at options to shuttle from Lone Pine to Reno on Wednesday since bus doesn't run that day; otherwise it will be the bus on Tuesday for $54.
