A flying Moose.

The result of an earlier flyer.

The Moose tearing up Dave's Run.

Quote of the year, so far: "I've met my match." (Me, at about 2:00pm.)

It's not a competition, (A good one from last year.) but we put the hammer down from the minute we got on the mountain, and I kept waiting for Laura to claim that she'd had enough. It never happened and we kept at it until the lifts weren't running any more.

It was a really fun weekend.

More photos to follow...

Nice form, Richard. cool

Moosie, you might want to go to Jackson Hole sometime. Phenomenal vertical (it's in my top 3 ski resorts). Teton Village (at the base of the resort) hosts my all time fav bar, The Mangy Moose. The best!

Dave and I skied Mt. Bachelor over New Years weekend. We always ring in the new year skiing; usually Bachelor cuz the snow is comparable to most ski areas in the Rockies; dry pow! Saturday was a bluebird day. Some highlights...

Great photos M.C.

Laura, here's one you'll probably like:

The rest of the story: We're heading down to the Outpost and Laura doesn't realize that there's the "road cut" for Road Runner down below. She catches a little air off of the first cut and then tries to execute a back flip off of the second cut. (I was in the process of trying to regain control after catching a bit of air off of the first cut.) I look over just in time to see her skis over her antlers. The first photo above is Laura's conservative approach after the back flip didn't go as expected. (She did get quite a bit higher off the ground, but the camera buffer was full from too many shots in a row.)

You guys were two chairs ahead of me and a friend on chair 23 around noon. You went left towards Cornice and we went right towards Paranoids. Hard to miss Laura with the antlers on. Sorry I didn't get a chance to say hi. Was a great day at the big hill with minimal crowd factor and nice styrofoam base with a little fluff and some nice wind buff to be found. P3 was going off huge. Saw few people and a ski patrol sneaking into Philippes and going strong.

Steve Larson and I spent a bit more relaxing afternoon last Saturday cruising up from Tamarack Lodge on the public access trail towards Mammoth Pass. Nice afternoon and we were both looking at each other at the end of the day saying, "I need to get me some of these XC skis!!"

And, we're back to the, "Great... more gear to buy..." problem...

So what was Laura's adventure this weekend?

I was able to squeeze in a quick trip up to Mammoth this weekend. It was windy up at the top, but not quite as bad today as yesterday.

I left around 1 pm today and decided to get through all those construction zones on 395 as soon as possible. That meant that I skipped Bishop and stopped in Lone Pine. I planned to drop by the Hostel, but when I got there I found a sign on the door saying that it was closed this weekend. Oh well, maybe I will have better luck the next time that I pass through town. grin
