six years ago my friends car broke down in death valley returning home to vegas from yosimite, we were towed to lone pine where we got a room at the dow villa, we sat in their lobby reading each other trivial pursuit questions, this question came up, " whats the hightest summitt in the lower 48?" this is where we first learned of Mt. Whitney in which that same friend and i summitted last week. we've been back to lone pine a few times since and would continue to stay at the dow villa the place has a real cool vibe dispite the pink rooms.
