Hi All:
My group is planning a Whitney summit via the Cottonwoods Meadows Trailhead.

Question: Is there water currently available at Guyot Flat. If you have been there this year, your feedback would be greatly appricated.

Thanks,

Guyot Creek runs all summer. We there there last year at the end of August and it had a great flow in a really dry year. The next water going north is Whitney Creek in about 4 miles.

Thanks for info. If we can't confirm any water at Guyot Flats we'll pull up short at the creek.

I've been told that the Flats have water, but the topo's don't show it??? The flats are 1.2 miles past the creek and fit our plans better. But if no one confirms we'll play it safe.

Thanks for your help

Man, Guyot Flat is bone dry, I misread your post. The only place there might be a hint of water is on the far side of it as you start the last climb before droping into Crabtree Meadow.

It's Guyot Creek or Crabtree Meadow for water.

Take hard look at your map.

Went through that area last Sunday (July 27) and there is definitely no water from Guyot Creek to Lower Crabtree Meadows. You must get your water from the Lower Rock Creek crossing at the log across the river or at Guyot Creek at the top of the first hill. There is NO water in between! Hope that helps! Have a great hike!

Thanks for the info. We have revised our plans and will pull up short at the creek.

Thanks again.
