I would like to do the Mount Whitney Trail in one day from the Whitney Portal starting at about 12:30am. Ideally I would like to do the hike between 9/27/08 and 11/1/08 before daylight savings time ends and cold weather sets in. Once a date is determined we can work on obtaining a permit. I am a slow paced 54 year old hiker in good condition. On 8/3/08 I summated White Mountain Peak.

I am planning a fall season hike of the main trail starting Fri midnight 10/31/2008 summit on 11/01. I did the summer hike on 8/01. I am age 52 with average hiking speed. Any chance that you may be living in S.F. Bay Area so that we could share the gas? Let me know if this hiking schedule works.

Just out of curiosity, anyone hike to the summit at each of the 4 seasons (summer, fall, winter, and spring) within one year?

I was at 17 months in a row and had a chance to continue the streak, but stayed up a Mammoth Mountain and skied, rather than heading down for the hard work a Feb '08 ascent would have requried. Myself, Rick Kent (and about a dozen others (according to Bob R and Doug)) have managed to do one-day ascents in each month of the year. You can do a search on either of our User Names to read about some of the epics. Fun stuff, indeed!
