Logging Flats- that's obscure but here goes since I try to keep that path burned in. Only a few locals seem to use it. Park at the overnight parking for N. Fork Big Pine Creek. Head out and keep your eyes peeled for a very hidden trail going off to the right opposite where the horses come out of the pack station. You can follow the trail steeply up to Logging Flat in a couple of miles where it ultimately intersects the trail to Baker Lake coming up from the main N. Fork Big Pine Creek trail. Going left takes you over to the N.Fork Big Pine Creek trail in less than a mile. Going right takes you to various locations depending on your interests. The Baker Lake trail can even be used with some x country (nice fall color in one spot)to intersect and get over to Coyote Flat. I have run from the trail head up to Logging Flat, over to Coyote Flat down to Piper Peak and down in to Big Pine and guess it is a bit over 20 miles. BTW, the views of the Palisades from past Logging Flat and from Coyote Flat are picture quality.
