OK, people. Doug's post about The Meeting has faded onto Page 3, so Steve has agreed to stick this up top until the weekend of the hike/pah-tee. I'd like to use this as a sign-up for the potluck: Doug should NOT be responsible for providing food, as he is, after all, providing a space/tables/chairs/BBQs for our little shindig.

SO: let's all list what we are bringing here. When I was organizing BBQs for my old paddling team in SoCal, I usually recommended to bring enough for 4-6 people each, as there were about 100+ people in the Club. And don't just sign up for beer, either (drinks are secondary). Bring something for the grill, salad, dessert, watevah. I'll be throwing on an apron over my pah-tee dress and will happily stand for hours with tongs in one hand and brew in the other! grin

Let's get this thing rollin'!

-Moosie

I am bringing:

Cooler of the Gods (who knows what heavenly elixir will flow???)

Full Salmon Filet
Trout Filet
Brie Bread

If someone goes to Joseph's and gets vanilla ice cream, I'll bring peaches for the grill, also.

Sorry for the slightly off topic post, but I'm hoping that perhaps some of you who will be on the message board hike and potluck might have some MT permits that you won't be using on those dates. I'm looking for 3 MT overnight passes for the 26th and 27th or 3 day use permits for the 27th. If any of you are about to cancel permits that you otherwise would have used, I would like to coordinate picking them up when you cancel.

I have a question wrt food storage and cooking - is there a place we can keep stuff that needs to be kept refrigerated and is there a microwave to use in order to heat the food? That info will help me decide what to bring...

Great Question Blooty! I'd like to bring some Italian Sausauges but need a place to keep them cool! Hopefully Vons is selling Sam Adams Oktoberfest by then...

Just got a crazy idea on the drinks. Since it is so close to October it reminds me of an Octoberfest beer tasting party a friend of mine used to have. Everyone brings a six pack of their favorite microbrew or the most off the wall brew they can find. Put all of the beers out with some cups and everyone who wants gets to taste something they might never have tried before.

Maybe DougSr can make the room just off the lobby available for everyone to stash their goodies on Saturday morning.

If you need to keep things cool, bring a cooler (even a cheapie styrofoam one would do the trick, I would think).

In terms of heating up, I can bring my Coleman camp stove and a few pots/pans to warm things up (like beans, chili, etc)

So.....I assume there is a bbq available? Is there a microwave at the hostel? Just trying to figure out how to bring a main dish - most likely I will be carpooling, not driving.

Hey, since there's a grill available I'm going to bring some tri tip... they are about 3-4 pounds each and take ~30 mins to grill. Should I bring one or two of these bad boys?

OK two big ol' tri tips it is. I read somewhere that we should all bring drinks that we like so I'll do that.

as a side note - there is going to be a lot of coolers and other personal stuff laying around - I would suggest marking your items to avoid later confusion - otherwise Moosie may paint it orange and take it home

I'm committed to the Society of Experimental Test Pilots Symposium in Anaheim Wed - Sun morning. Any chance the LP festivities will carry over to Sun afternoon?
