I think if you bring an ax, the cost of your camping permit covers chopping down at least one tree for fire wood. This is NOT recommened, however, since green wood usually does not burn well. I drive a vehicle powered by compressed natural gas, and I have found that I can hook up my bar-b-que grill to it, and that it makes quite a nice gas fire. I WOULD recommend purchasing a 2000 or later CNG powered Crown Victoria to help the environment and the extra benefit of being able to barbque anywhere.
