Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Cabins for rent?

Our group of four just successfully completed our first trip up Whitney and caught the sunrise Monday morning. This forum and all of you sharing information, tips, and trip reports were an integral part of our training. Thank you for your help.
While staying in the campground, we noticed all of the summer homes. I have not been able to find any information about whether or not any of these are offered as vacation rentals. Does anyone know a source for this?

I believe they are all privately owned cabins on long-term lease land owned by the Forest Service, and part of the lease prohibits them from being used as vacation rentals.

Steve C is correct. The cabins cannot be used for profit.

Thanks for the replys. Thought one of these would make a great base camp for a week but, alas, oh well.
