Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Need 2 permits for 8-16/Day Hike

This will be my first trip hiking up the Whitney trail and have no idea on how to go about getting a permit reserved, when I should do it, etc...

If anyone is able to help out it would be very much appreciated! Thank you.

We have 2 extra spaces on our permit that starts on 8/16. The only problem is that we're doing the entire JMT. I'm not sure if there is a way to transfer those spots to you. That way you can go at your own pace and come back down to WP.
Or if it's possible for you to use the permit tags and not stay with us....

To The Hiker - Thank you for the offer, but like you, I am not sure of the ability to transfer the permits for that one part. But good luck on the JMT! Hopefully one day I'll be able to hike that myself after I get some more experience.
