Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Highway 395 Overnight Parking

I am heading down to Whitney in Sept. I want to leave my car near 108 and 395, for a couple of nights and carpool down. Any where south of 108 will work. Does any one have a suggestion to leave my car for 2-3 nights. Thanks in advance.

I think I remember a small parking space on 108 just above the 395 intersection. I know there's one near the river. There's also a CalTrans yard north just a bit.

I'm not sure where 108 is at. I left my car in Big Pine overnight and it was fine - I asked the store proprietor if I could leave it. Wherever you leave it, I think it would be best to ask somebody THERE first if it would be allright to do so. Big Pine, Independence, Lone Pine, and other points south have plenty of parking opportunities off of 395.
