I am headed up there this tuesday and would like to find a decent map for the North Fork any ideas? We want to see the glacier but keep the hike under 12 miles.

The normal USGS topo map for the area is fine. I"m taking this off of memory but I think the 7.5 minute version is called North Palisade Peak (NOT Brower Palisade... sorry I had to throw that in for anyone who is familiar with the proposed renaming).

I think the hike is about 8 miles to the glacier one way so you're probably looking at a hike over your 12 mile limit. You can shave some of this distance off by parking in the day use area if you're doing a day hike. I'm guessing that would cut about a 1/2 mile each way off the hike.

It's a beautiful area. Have fun on a great hike!

Thanks Kurt, do you know how far you have to hike to get a decent view of the glacier?
