Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board skiing the John Muir Trail

seems pretty obvious, and I bet a few folks have done part or all of it.

I'm hoping for a good snow year (why not?) and am contemplating as tour of the JMT, begun at the JMT and finishing at Bishop Pass. Obviously condition-dependent, but I'd like to do this in late April.

anyone here have any info, firsthand or otherwise, of skiing the JMT?

Begun where???

And how will you cross the streams? Have you hiked the trail?

I'll guide you across them there chilly streams and so on (seven recent JMT's) if you'll put up with my less that black diamond skiing.
