Hello, I'm looking for raw foodists out there who can give me some feedback on healthy trail/backpacking food that sustains and advice on replenishing electrolytes, and any other tidbits of advice and experience you care to share- thanks so much, Nube smile

Raw nuts and seeds are great as well as raisins and other died fruits.Raw sunflower and pepitas are easier to wash down.Raw nuts like almonds and cashews are good complex carbs/fiber with protein and nescessry fat/oils. Needs lots of water/fluids to keep hydrated and help wash down.There are some raw fruit and nut packaged bars available at Whole Foods.

Click on the "Search" tab and type in "nutrition." Pull up articles from the last 2 years. You will get answers to many of your questions on nutrition, or at least many opinions. Whether the food is cooked or raw, your requirements are pretty much the same. Make sure the majority is carbohydrates, and if you eat raw, make sure you pay plenty of attention to getting complete protein, unless you want to come out of the wild with a depressed immune system and looking like a stick figure.

Most important is that you like the things you are taking with you. Once you pass a certain elevation there is a chance you will lose you appetite. If that happens the only things which pass you lips are thing you really, really like...if that.

If there was one important lesson I learnt on my last hike up Whitney, it was to make sure I had foods that I really liked.

I had loaded up on bars and when the appetite crashed as we gained altitude, I found myself hating the thought of any bars or anything sweet. I ended up eating a lot less than I should have. I remember seeing someone eating a boiled egg and finding it very appealing at that point. I was wishing I had something like that.
