Will be planning a day attempt in Sept. with my brother and want to thank all for the information and photos posted here. We'll be going light (2 liters will treat the rest, food, light poncho, small first aid and running shoes) and using poles. We are not without concern as 22 miles and 12 hours is quite an undertaking. We are building up our hikes 12-15 miles with 4000' gain, but have been out only 5 1/2 hours to date. Next month we plan on doing Baden Powell twice---that we give us 16 miles with 5600'. In two weeks we are doing our first fishing trip of the season to the Eastern Sierras and we are planning to add a day hike (with permit) up to trailside meadow or maybe longer just to nose around ....will report back on trail conditions.
