I have a friend who is a freelance writer, and is looking to write an article on hiking groups with only women aged 40+. She says her deadline is Oct 31, so she's running short on time. Anybody want to be interviewed?

If you're interested, reply or PM me, and I'll give you her email address. I don't think there's any money being offered, but it could be fun.

Sorry this isn't exactly Whitney-specific, but like I said, her deadline is approaching.

Thanks!

Rich

The most women +40 hiking in a group can be found in Icehouse Canyon every Saturday morning.

The are a part of the mostly Korean Toyo Hiking Club.

I think I have seen those Korean women up there! Any idea how to contact them?

They may not be just women but here's how to contact them. http://www.ddlah.com/wst_page5.php (Be sure to scroll down once you get to this webpage.)

I don't know if your friend would be interested in this, but Hulda Crooks was a woman well over 40 who was quite a hiker. "Hulda Crooks (b. May 19, 1896; d. November 23, 1997) Affectionately know as 'Grandma Whitney' she successfully scaled 14,505 foot Mt. Whitney 23 times between the ages of 65 and 91. She had climbed 97 other peaks during this period." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulda_Crooks

Thanks Bob, that's pretty interesting.
But I think my friend needs someone to interview, not just research. I've gotten a few leads via PM, and from my Sierra Club friends, so she's on her way. Thanks again.

I took a group of women to Whitney via the main trail two years ago who have been hiking together for many years. They are all over 50.

Send me a PM with contact information and I will pass it on to them.
