Hello All.....

We are coming up on the 5th of October to attempt Whitney in one day....we have been reading the weather reports and posts and it sounds like we might need some crampons? Now don't get mad if this question has already been asked.....but....

Has anyone been on the trail this week? How is the trail looking in terms of snow and possiable ice?

Any suggestions for first time group trying a one dayer in winter conditions...?

Thanks.

I would say wait until this Saturday and Sunday's hikers come in and report - you will probably get an accurate idea at that time - my guess is the trail will be pretty well beat into any remaining snow and slightly icey on non-exposed snow surfaces
