I need to arrange a ride from Whitney Portal to HSM on Friday afternoon, 9/28.
Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get from the Portal to HSM late Friday afternoon? I called Trail Head Shuttle, but they cannot do it.

they should be able to assist you. I used their service in August to get transport from the Portal to Cottonwood trailhead.

I have struck out in terms of transportation from Whitney Portal to HSM.
It seems neither shuttle service is operating right now.
How likely is it to catch a ride with someone going down from the Portal on Friday afternoon, and then back up to HSM? Sticking our thumbs out is our last option, not that it didn't work back in the days.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you could always ask around the WP campground and see if somebody is willing to give you a ride (if you cover the cost of gas).
