Not sure what you mean?? a different trail from the normal one? Two miles up from Patriarchs Grove there is a trail that goes up White Mountain, 14mi. RT. According to the book the trail begins at the locked gate. Maybe someone else can help you.

The most common approach from the west turns off of US6 at White Mountain Ranch Road and climbs a rough 2WD road to about 5600' at the base of Jeffrey Mine Canyon. The ridge on the south side is the usual route. An alternate approach is by swinging south along the Millner Canyon aqueduct road from the southeast corner of the White Mountain ranch and climbing to the same ridge from the south. The alternate may allow access to water before leaving the canyon bottom.

To see the whole range try:

Put the cursor on the image than select Original image size.

Figure about half the gain can be on scree. There is cactus along the route to at least 11,000'.If you plan to return by your accent route, you can cache water along the way. Up high, pass the false summit on the left.

To climb 10,000' vertical you would really need to start twenty some miles south in the town of Chalfant Valley.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I'll have to tank up on a lot of water to make the hike from Owens Valley. Probably be an overnighter for me. Keep hiking!
