I was just wondering in this time of the year where can you get a quad of Whitney. In a store would be nice. Anyone know where I could get one along the way? Thanks for info.

I believe that one of the sporting goods stores in Lone Pine sells USGS 7.5' maps. You might also try either the ranger station in Lone Pine or the InterAgency Visitors Center south of Lone Pine at the junction of Hwy. 395 and 136. If you happen to be in Southern California, Allied Map Services, 966 N. Main St., Orange, is a USGS stocking dealer. If not, the USGS web site (www.usgs.gov) has a search to locate stocking dealers. They call them "business partners". If you use the USGS site, be patient. Their server is slow. Good luck!

You will need both Mt. Whitney and Mt. Langley 7.5'USGS quads for coverage.

If you are coming from the north stop in at Wilson's Eastside Sproting Goods in Bishop.

In SoCal REI should have them. They are switching over to the NG map machine, like A16. You might be able to do the entire trail in 1:24,000 format.

You can also find topo maps at several of the sporting goods stores in Mammoth Lakes, if you're coming down 395 from the north. You'll have to get off 395 and drive west a couple of miles on 203 to get to town, though.
