Besides the obvious (memories, photographs, & video..) I've put together little shadow boxes of our (Marisa and I) more notable hikes including (when possible) a replica summit marker. This one is Mount Rogers, Glacier Point to Half Dome, Mount Mitchell (our first hike together), and Mount Washington... Longs Peak.. And one of my favorites..because it took 4 big trips to get it! Mt. Whitney...(Richard will see one of his photos in that collage..!).. They hang on our wall to remind me to get out there..and I smile every time I stop and look at them.. Chris Edit: Oh..and you can get summit marker replicas from here: http://www.mountainclimb.com/Or..I think the Portal Store sells them for Whitney if I'm not mistaken! Unfortunately the times I was out there that I failed the store was open..but I couldn't buy one since I hadn't made the summit. Then..the time I managed to get up there..the store was closed.. Doh!

Those are really cool. A great way to remember the hikes. For me, I do the obvious slide show, and usually blow-up one or two of the more notable pictures to hang on a wall in the house.
Also, when I take my scouts on a hike (I'm a Scoutmaster), I will make a slideshow for the boys and their families. Then, when they earn their Eagle Rank, I also go through all the old pictures and make a slideshow of just that scout, attempting to chronicle his adventures over the last few years. It turns out pretty cool for the new Eagle and his family.

Cool Stuff! As I was reading the other thread ( http://www.whitneyportalstore.com/forum/...age=1#Post35408 ) on memorabilia, I was surprised to find that I don't have a whole lot of interest in "other things Whitney," which really surprises me because of my addiction to climbing it (and this board).

those are fantastic!!! very good way to remember the big ones. another way we do it is to look in the summit log (alot of local tahoe peaks have them) and see what we wrote when we were last up there. kinda neat.

That is a great idea for the boy scouts...(the slideshow of their past achievements).. mtnrider - Hmm..maybe that is where all the summit registers are disappearing too...someone is taking them and mounting them on their wall.. By the way..does anyone make a summit replica or summit patch for Mt. Baldy? I'd love to frame that photo of the big group I hiked up there with..it was so much fun... Chris

One of us, who head up there regularly, can check the Visitor's Center for you the next time we're up at Baldy.
BTW: when's the movie of the MR coming out?

On my really big trips (first time on the Main Trail/Summit last August, my big 10-dar car camp last Oct), I've actually gotten books printed through the flickr.com website. So I now have a few "coffee table books" that people can look through. I also have a two walls in my living room that I use for my own photos: I'm also saving for a new computer (someday!!) so I can start making DVD's of all my adventures. But I LOVE your frames, Chris! They're so, well, Martha!! -Laura

I love the idea of shadow boxes, Chris! That way you aren't restricted to just photos, but there's room for trinkets & mementos. I supposed taking a small stick from the area would be illegal, but maybe they wouldn't say anything about a small rock... I would probably put my wilderness permit in there, too (how big are they?). I guess used moleskin would be a little gross... Laura, I like the dedication of a whole wall (or two) to hiking/climbing memories. Hey, what's that you're watching on TV? Looks like Rachel Boesing doing the weather.. Now you've both got me thinking...what would Martha do? Rich

Those are great....that's a wonderful way to remember your best hikes. I just have a spreadsheet with all the details from my hikes, along with my photos, and the GPS track that I can look at in Google Earth.
Occasionally, I will have one of the photos made into a poster as well.
