Looking for any experiences and/or opinions on the use of breathing strips at altitude. It is interesting that football players seem to use them more than basketball players but are there any benefits for hikers/backpackers?

Haven't used them in the day, nor seen them on anyone on a trail. However, I pack a couple for sleeping at altitude and it seems to help open the passage ways for easier more relaxed breathing during sleep.
