Here's a report I just posted regarding a climb up Whitney's North Face last weekend with Tina T.

I'm just posting a link here because embedded html no longer seems to work:

It's a fairly long report.

Congrats Rick & Tina!

I haven't had a chance to read your TR yet, but I'm sure it's a doozie! laugh

Just finished your report Rick..fantastic, as usual. Sounds like you guys met up with some conditions that made a straightforward climb into a bit of an epic. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be to stick the shaft of your ice axe in and feel it hit rock or ice just 6 or 8 inches down. In the back of your mind you are definitely thinking it wouldn't hold your fall...ugh..what a feeling! The part you describe about finding a spot to take off crampons resonates with me too...when you are tired and need to do something like that it can be easy to drop an axe or a crampon and have it disappear for good. Sounds like you guys made great decisions and adapted to the conditions.

I was watching you guys for awhile from the Notch as you were traversing one of the rock ribs further to the right. You looked so small and distant!

Anyway, I'm glad to hear everything went well. The photographs and description tell the story well. Congrats to you and Tina..a well earned summit for sure!

It was great meeting you both!

Regards...
Chris
