My friend and I are Climbing Whitney om June 14 2007, and I am wondering If i am going to need crampons/Ice axes to complete the hike. First time up Whitney, physically I'm not worried I do the Decathlon for my College, and can run a sub 4:30 mile, but my concern is the switchbacks being frozen over. Any Help would be greatly Appreciated!

Frist time, going in june too.Are best bet is to have them handy,Weather is looking like things are heating up,so we might get a good one but due to rapid changes anything could happen.Your worst bet is that you are unsure about moveing on up,desend back down,so if your doing a 1 day take the axe/crampons so you can make it safe to the summit,Good Luck and be safe.

There will be days when i don't know if I can run a Marathon. There will be a lifetime knowing that i have.

Bring your snow skills and tools. You can leave the tools in the car if June conditions are Mid-July like.
