Does anyone know of a decent camping store in Vegas? All I need is stove fuel. I'm flying in on the 16th and of course cannot back fuel on the plane. Something on the NW side of Vegas would be great since I'm heading that way from the airport straight to DV and the portal.

Also, does Lone Pine have a store where I could find stove fuel?

There is an REI located at 2220 Village Walk Drive, Henderson, Nevada. I checked Mapquest and it says the REI is 7.98 miles from McCarran International Airport and estimates travel time at 9 minutes. However, it is the opposite direction of Death Valley. There is also a Sports Chalet at Charelston and Rampart which is a little out of the way. There is also a Copelands right off the 95 at Lake Mead. It is located in the Best of the West Shopping mall. I would call ahead to make sure they have what you need.

Hey folks, how about we support the Lone Pine businesses and buy the common stuff in Lone Pine? I realize that there is a need for the expensive or specialty items only available in the big stores, but the common stuff is readily available in Lone Pine - as long as we provide enough traffic to keep them in business.

That's a great point. The Whitney Portal Store still carries stove fuel and there are a couple places in Lone Pine too including Joseph's market, Elevation (that new climbing shop in Lone Pine), and a couple hardware stores.

I'm sure they could use the business and would appreciate it.
