Bakersfield seems to be sorely lacking in hikers, mountaineers, and climbers. I find this surprising since we have a population of over 300,000. Other than myself, I've met only one other person from here that hikes as much or more than I do. That would be Rick Kent. I manage to get out and hike between 15-25 times a year and as many of you know, Rick gets out every weekend. I would be interested in meeting others from Bakersfield that are interested in these activities. I do much of my hiking here in Kern county because of the close proximity, but I also travel to other areas when possible. If there is anyone else out there from Bako let me know so that perhaps we can join forces on the trails, or blaze our own.

Drop me a line on my email, I live here in Bakersfield and often looking for a partner, in fact was hoping to try a day hike up Whitney this Saturday! You know Ricks last name is Kent (could he be a relative of Clarks? perhaps Superhiker!)

Rafael: drop me an email at 078sch1@comcast.net. I used to live in Tehachapi but now live in Modesto. I just had foot surgery but maybe we can put something together in the spring. I have done Whitney 4x, White Mtn. 5x, Shasta 1x, Mt. Dana a bunch of times. Bob
