Where is the best place to rent BRCs in Lone Pine area? Would I need to reserve them now for a troip next week?

If last year is any indication, you won't need to reserve one. I came in the Portal Store at about 6:00 pm on the last Thursday in July, and there were more canisters than you could shake a stick at.

Although the Whitney Portal Store does not take reservations for bear canisters, if they run out they simply open up a new one and make it available for rental (I asked this very question this weekend), so you don't need a reservation.

Of course, the Whitney Portal Store rental rates are much lower than you will find elsewhere.

I don't use credit cards, does the Portal Store rent using cash only?

And also, is there a night drop to put back what you borrowed when you are tired and on your way home after hours?
