Thanks Doug! The tour of the Alabama Hills and the drive up Granite View Road was lots of fun. It definitely adds a few more spots to see to the to-do list.

I'll let Luara add more detail.

Start thinking about making your reservations for the Taj Mahal. The place is looking more and more like it'll be open soon.

What a nice day this looks like you all had! Beautiful pictures of the sweet horses, love the contrast colors of the brown hills and the snow covered peaks! Yeah your Birthday Brownie looks pretty good there smile That was very nice of them to do that:)

My friend Sarah and I joined Richard in LP last Friday and then had the honor of meeting Doug Sr, who took us on a two-hour tour of the Alabama Hills and up to the southern base of Lone Pine Peak. We had a blast, and many thanks to Doug for playing tour guide today! It was also awesome to see the final workings of the hotel. I call the room on the second floor on the end!

Richard is always haranguing me about cooking, so I made him some port-fudge brownies with dried cherries for him to enjoy. Definitely a "Got Milk??" moment!

The trip made me really want to come back and explore/climb some of those hills, since a lot of the routes would be perfect for a novice climber like me to learn. Besides, all the hidden nooks and crannies were just so COOL!!

Wish we could have stayed longer, but we were headed for Death Valley and some hiking in the desert for the weekend.

Hope y'all had a wonderful holiday weekend!

Richard, I have the one with you and your crown on my camera... what will you give me not to post it?
hehehehe...
come on, make it worth my while... :p

Again, I will reiterate, I had a blast with our private tour of the Alabama Hills. Definitely will go back to further explore.

In a testament to NothingZ, not to be confused with Crocs, they perform well on positive sloping granite boulders. smile

Remember Richard, you only have 4 years left before you can order off the Denny's Senior menu... try to be patient!

Since I was not around to collect a cake from Richard this year, I may have to get used to the idea of trying Denny's. I'll have Richard dying for that big birthday in 2011.

Alan, you just got me going on 09/10/11 and 11/11/11. Jeez, thanks a lot. You guys know that I don't like to plan things in advance.

But, there is a Denny's in Majave. Discounted celebrations...PF better start worrying.
