I'm planning on climbing Muir via the E. Buttress on 6/11 and Thor from Outpost Camp on 6/11. Does anyone have beta, pics, recommendations and/or advice?

One of the guys on summitpost has made a nice route page for E. Buttress of Muir. He has a few pictures as well.

If you are climbing the East Butress of Mt. Muir you would have the abilty to climb the Stemwinder route to Thor Peak from near Outpost Camp....mostly class three with one 30 foot section of class four and one 20 foot low class 5 section.

Follow the link from Richard to Bob R.'s Whitney Miscellany

You could drop back down to 10000 feet and go up the southeast chute, a nice class 2/3 chute to Thor Peak. Or you could follow one of the routes in Whitney Miscellany up past Mirror lake. Certainly that would be mostly dry by now, but much of it is loose scree.

The Stemwinder route looks interesting? Do you really think the ledge is only 1 to 2 feet? I've got a extra spot on the permit if your interested.

Bob R. has been up the Stemwinder route multiple times. He is the one who said the ridge in picture #28 is 1-2 feet in the narrowest places. I would expect it to be exactly as he says.

Look at this photo album, especially #25, 25a & #28, 28a
