Hi,
Since you guys here see it all first,I recently read about a new MSR XGK expedition type stove- that replaces the old XG model- ~$120.00. This one now has a flexible tube between the fuel bottle and the stove. (The old tube was a solid piece and bent easily.) They advertise that this new model is lighter, has a new 3 sided collapsible pot holder arrangement, a new pump system, and a new 3-sided design for the stove bottom too. (REI does not have it in stock-too bad- the 20% off sale) Anybody seen this yet? Thoughts?

Sounds neat, is this the one you are talking about?

I appoligize for the long link. If you want I can see if REI has set a shipment date on when they may be recieved. What have you heard about it? Looks like a heavy duty housing, but now with much more compactibility than the old model.

Called REI on this today. They have set up a REI code number- 722001 - but no availabilty or scheduled date for stocking- thus no 20% off this week. REI says $129.95 but cheaper other places.. It does look cool though, & MSR says it is lighter, better simmer, stronger, easier control. Just wondering.....

Eric, when you post a link, if you would put it into http format, it would come out without the URL, and people could just click on the message. Here is how:

Type your paragraph, and for a link, type <a href="http://link_goes_here" target="_new">Your link description</a>.

And your stove link would look like this:
Sounds neat, is <a href="http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jhtml;jsessionid=53LDDIUHUBW0BTQSNOHCCOOOCJVZCIWE?id=0031750516749a&type=product&cmCat=perf&rid=0180101070502&xpid=k277 6&cm_ven=Performics&cm_cat=Shopping%2Ecom&cm_ite=DDI%20Link&ROI_MrcID=300450&afsrc=1&ROI_SrvPgTyp=ROICHKO&_requestid=47033" target="_new">this the one</a> you are talking about?

Arghhhh, Eric, I can't BELIEVE you actually sent us to a <em>Cabella's</em> page! What's this world coming to?!?!?!? wink

Does look like a cool stove, I'll admit. Thanks for your advice (on High Sierra Topix) about the Snow Peak Gigapower, by the way. I bought one, and I'm itching to try it out on our 40-mile Maryland AT trek this month.
