Saturday, April 30 I also climbed Mt. Whitney. The snow conditions were excellent and
there were a lot of snow boarders and skiers out. One skier brought his
dog along and the dog (named "Clyde", what else?) did an impressive job of
climbing his way to the summit. I got a couple pictures of him.
I came back down the mountaineers because I wanted to glissade it. I got a
good glissade down the mountaineers, then down from Iceberg Lake, down "the
step" above Upper Boy Scout Lake, and finally down from the end of Clyde
Meadow to Lower Boy Scout Lake.

I'm not surprised to learn that the dog made the summit. I got the impression from the owner that he was capable of making the climb up the final chute.

I think you gave some pointers on an alternate descent route to Larry (my partner for the weekend). He had expressed some concern about our ascent route and wanted to find an easier route closer to the face of Whitney.

With 4 crampons Clyde would have summited from the portal in an hour.
