I have been following the news about the heavy rainfall in So. Cal. I was wondering if that rain was snow in the Whitney area. if so, how much.

Hi Walked up to the Portal campground today to check snow levels, about 1-2' more than the average year.Road is snow packed just past the road closed sign and drifts/slides the first mile then solid 2-3 feet and about 4'at the campground entrance.

Snow has slide in the Maysen canyon and I would expect the same for the main trail area and the northfork,Hot sunny days now are going to make the last few storms runoff,it was melting today. Thanks Doug

Take a look at this graph. It does show some increase in the snow pack from the last series of storms.....but nothing like the huge snowfall from the late December/ early Jan snowfall.
