Hello Everyone.

Recent events show the importance of and the role Search and Rescue teams play.

Our team, the West Valley Search and Rescue team, is responsible for an area that many of you train in in preparation for your Whitney hikes, namely from Mt. Baldy over to Lytle Creek (I15). We also respond to mutual aid calls. Some of our team members have been on the very searches that have been discussed here in the last few days.

You may not be aware that SAR teams in San Bernardino County are manned by citizen volunteers, and receive no financial backing from the government. We donate our time, buy our own gear, and hold fundraisers to raise money for team gear and supplies.

Along these lines the West Valley SAR team holds two fundraisers annually: A 5K/10K Run in April, which some of you were kind enough to attend, and a charity softball tournament in the Fall. This year the tournament will be on Saturday, November 6th at the Epicenter in Rancho Cucamonga.

We still have room for more teams! We need your support!

If you play softball or know anyone who does, please consider joining us for a day of fun and help support a worthy cause.

I know this is somewhat short notice. Thanks in advance for whatever you can do. And to all of you who supported us at our 5K/10K run, thank you again for your support!
