Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Chasin Bears (or Trail Rage) on the JMT

I have been meaning to post this for some time, and finally got around to it...

During my summer backpack from Onion Valley to Whitney Portal, I had a run-in with a bear stealing food from my pack. He took my pack and ran, and I chased him to get it back. I got it back in the end, but the bear first got a swipe at me and ripped my pants. Fortunately for me I was not hurt, and I hope I have learned a lesson.

that's a good story. how come i am not that lucky.
