For fit and ready peak hikers, a few of us will be starting from the McGee Creek Trailhead to day climb Red Slate Mountain (13,163'). Catch us at about 6:30 a.m., Saturday the 4th. This is a great conditioner for Whitney or any other High Sierra peak. Class 1 trail to McGee Pass, then 1,000' gain of generally good use trail to the top.

We may do Mt. Morgan (13,748') the next morning, too.

Of course, we cannot be responsible for rescues, evacs, medical bills, or anything of the sort! The forecast looks good. These will be my 3X ascents, so I know the way well.

13 hours round trip for Red Slate, and 4-5 hours to top Morgan. Easy peak Monday, if desired.

I'm leaving by 9 or 10 a.m., tomorrow, Thursday, but you can just show up. We reserve the right to refuse attendance, but you can go on your own. Experienced peak climbers requested, but fit hikers with an adventurous spirit can try themselves to see how they do.

No charge or fee. Free, for all. Need your own gear, water, and food.

Anyway, all, climb smart, be safe!
