I will be hiking Whitney this weekend with a group of four and was hoping someone could give me the latest weather conditions and evening temperatures. Also how was water availability along the main trail and are there bears at Trail Camp? Is a bear canister required?
Thanks

Evening temperatures are relatively mild except at Trail Camp where they range from mild to cold (it snowed the day before we arrived there.) Up on the ridge it's very windy so bring a good jacket. Thunderstorms have been occuring regularly in the afternoons. Plan to be off the summit by noon - 2pm at the latest.

There's plenty of water up till the spring above Trail Camp.

Only saw a bear down at Portal, but you will encounter plenty of marmots, chipmunks and even birds who are interested in your food (shoo them away).

Bear canisters are absolutely required. Good luck.

Ellen
