Yesterday, I day hiked from Onion Valley to Kearsarge Peak (12,598'). I took the trail that goes to Golden Trout Lakes and then headed for Lilley Pass on the snow (crampons sure helped in the morning), but I ended up going to the ridge a bit south of Lilley Pass (more boulders and a little less scree but steeper). Once up on the ridge it was rock hopping and a couple snowfields to cross before getting to the summit. I took Lilley Pass on the way down and ended up doing a lot of scree and snow skiing down to the meadow.
