my name is adam and i was going to climb mt whitney on june 15th and have read that i might need crampons in that time of year. i also read the message previously posted before me and noticed the "crampons might save your life part" statement, but i have no means to practice as being that i live in OHIO. so if someone maybe fill me in on the gist of things that would be great or if there were somewhere to practice the day before i climb. also, can crampons be rented at any nearby stores??

Crampons might be usefull some years on June 15th, but would be unlikely this year. The snow is melting too fast for that to happen. Usually by then the remaining snow on the trail is well packed down and easy to travel during the warmer parts of the day.

They do rent crampons in Lone Pine Sporting goods in downtown Lone Pine.

As it gets closer, you will have a better idea about the snow. Based on what I saw up there last week, I would really doubt you would need them this year on June 15th

ohhh yeah i kind of forgot one thing. i couldnt get an overnight pass so im attempting a one day climb. im not worried about the physical aspect bc im 22 and work out and backpack on a regular. but if i cant hike during certain times of the day that could be problematic bc ill have to hike in full speed mode.

Adam: if you were doing a one day hike and start at 3:00 am, you wouldn't even get to the snow (which would only be spotty at higher elevations) until 8-9 or so. So the time of the day you could run into snow it would be warm, thus making crampons even less necessary.
