Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Missing hiker

Hoping anyone hiking this week has seen my brother in law. He started out at Onion Creek. We confirmed he is parked there. From there his permit says he was going to Kearsarge Lake trail to Bubbs Creek to consultation lake. No one has been able to get a hold of him. He’s about 5’10”, early 60’s, grayish blond hair.. good looking guy and very friendly. He loves engaging with fellow hikers. His name is Tom. Please me know if you’ve seen him this week and approximately where on the trail and when. Thanks

Hi a name and start date and exit date would help also a photo so we could hang up. Many people on the trail now doing this same hike plus HST JMT hikers so post on PCT 2026 and JMT sites.
He could be moving slow ,he has 2 major hills to climb.

Thanks Tom for the update , Lets leave the post active so members can see most often outcome of over due hikers and if you could add some details of the trip and why he was over due plus the lack of service in the backcountry , did he have a PLB or any device that could send out a message?
