Hello there. Does anyone know the fire restrictions for backpacking at the Inyo national forest? Would I be able to at least use my portable stove to cook? With the low temperature in the 30s how to keep ourselves warm without a fire? What are overnight hikers handling it while trying to summit Whitney without a fire?
Any suggestions? Much appreciated

Borboleta,

The Inyo NF website has a link to "Current Fire Restrictions."

Hikers who possess a California Campfire Permit may use a portable stove using pressurized liquid fuel.

California Campfire Permits are easy to get online and are free.

Enjoy your hike on the Mountain and be safe.
