...,and slight chance of rain this week 103 so sans the jacket in town. This is one of the worst mosquito seasons in years so long sleeves, pants and spray . If going in the back country I would get a Head net for sure or a suit if wearing shorts and short sleeve upper.

Will post if we get any information on the Permit information BUT YOUR best source is the Inyo NF site they will update what is open and closed.

Hello there in Lonepine. Y'all had a little shaker (M5.8) at 10:40 am near by - hope you are doing ok. Rocks on the Whitney road? Ridgecrest quake survivor.

I spoke on the phone with a ranger with the Inyo National Forest yesterday. She said the plan is to honor July permits for Whitney and also said they should be sending out an email later this week confirming how to receive your permit if you've previously been accepted. The website is being updated as well on next steps.

Portal shut down after the quake today, just got word it is open.
Could be adjustment on permits as the VC may need inspected for safety. Stay tuned.

Backpacker campground shut down for summer ,not sure about the Ravine campground it was not touched .another stay tuned
Nice rain late afternoon temp went from 102 -70 .So the forecast was correct except the rocker.

I'm out of the loop. What's the VC?

edit: The first thing that comes to mind is "Visitor Center", but haven't those already been closed for the past few months?

They are closed to the public but have staff working in the building that would send out emails and information.

Hey Doug,
If you need some stuff cleared and still have that big rope. I could bring the Jeep down and clean stuff up.
Dave’s in too. (He doesn’t know it yet.)
Or wait a week to see if any more comes down.
Take care.

Here’s the last clean up with Dave just laying around. smile
Trail days clean up.

Also old school, not on Facebook.
Any pics of the rock debris?

BTW: Dave’s to bring a broom for clean up.
