Hi All,
Does anyone have current info on the condition
of the Colby Pass Trail. I'm considering a loop
hike in later Sept. starting and ending at Lodgepole.
Any input from those that have done all or part of
that loop would be appreciated. Did the HST last
Sept, so know the trail from Crescent Meadow to the
junction on the Kern. Thanks for your input.
Happy Hiking
Rick

Hi Rick,

In late July 2013 (lingering snow and flooding not an issue) I dropped out of the Kaweah Basin just upsteam (of the Kern Kaweah River) of the Rockslides. I headed up the Colby Pass Trail a few miles and then turned into the Kern Kaweah Basin toward Pants Pass. What really impressed me was that following the Colby Pass Trail in this area was not particularly easy. Subsequently I have heard others make the same observation about the trail.

Best of luck on your outing.

Jim
