Looking for advice on how bad insects may be on the main Whitney trail. What types may we encounter? For reference, we have a permit for July 18th.

The main insect of concern will be mosquitoes. Bring some good insect repellent. Not sure if you're doing a day hike or an overnighter but when I know I'm camping in an area with lots of mosquitoes I like having a mosquito hood to cover my head. It's nice to have when you're cooking and hanging out around camp in the evenings.
