Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Saturday Permit Availability / Willing to Sell?

Hi all,

Apologies if this is not the right place to post this (I'm new here!) but my friend and I are hoping to hike Mt. Whitney before the weather makes it too technically challenging. Our only constraint is we have to do a day hike on Sat, since we live in New York and would fly out for a weekend.

Does anyone have a Sat permit between now and end of Sep they would be willing to sell (we are happy to pay above-market price) or extra room? We would really, really appreciate it.

The permits cannot be sold or transferred. Your best bet is to monitor recreation.gov compulsively for cancellations. I've done this myself in the past and always have been successful.
