I was very fortunate and received a overnight permit for Mt Whitney July 8.

Long story but I will be in Lone Pine the evening of July 7, but without a car or ground transportation. What are my options? I will need to pick up my permit the morning of July 8 and get to the Whitney Portal.

I have no problem renting a car, but that doesn't seem like a possibility. Is hitchhiking a doable? Ride share? Cab? Public transportation? What about other creative options?

My past experience is with hitchhiking. no problem and fast pick up.
Also you meet great people.
