Hi OK so spent the morning with the Bishop BLM staff going over the trail work , looks like a very easy day and a lunch at the Park in town. We need at least 40 volunteers , Myles has a track on about 10 climbers and the AHSG has 13 board members so If Jeff M can bring his crew and our WPSMB crew we should have a great day.
After the project and lunch several hours should be open to see the Hills and hit the rocks. Or a secret trip to Lone Pine Waterfall!
We will have a dinner at the Ranch as last year when we kicked off Amy and Myles to China and then the Climbing in South America. Dinner will be at 7:PM so if you can't make the morning please come for the Dinner. Thanks Doug

I've got about six people who have committed to come at the moment, and potentially more, but then again, we're coming from Socal, so with the flake factor, you might end up with a negative number of volunteers. (Strange how that happens sometimes...)

Wow, this is kind of like a secret event, huh? Maybe we should change the venue to Baldy or Costa Mesa?
Anyway, I have six definites and two wobblers---but the definites know which end of a shovel is which, so that will make up some of the time lost to "instruction."
See you tomorrow probably, but Saturday definitely.

Hi The meeting location is the intersection of Movie Road and Whitney Portal Rd 4 miles up Whitney Portal Road. This intersection has a large turn out on the right side of the Portal Road.
Meeting time is 8 AM, short talk and go over the projects for the day and break into 4 groups. One group will travel by car pool to the area near lone Pine Campground and do trail work for about 1000' and line the wash with a few rock , this is the trail we have used for many hikes and will be the joining link to the NRT trail in Lone Pine Campground. two more groups will do trail work in the center of the Alabama hills, very short sections that link existing trails , this work will be lining the trails with rock and very little if any shovel work. The Fourth group will focus on the entrance station at the mouth of the canyon , this is about 1/2 mile from town on the Whitney Portal Road. This work will be removing litter(6 TV'S) and other items and may build a 50' trail from the Parking lot to the Reflecting pool!
The work should be finished quickly and then to the Lone Pine Park for a lunch.
The afternoon is open and 7 PM we will have a dinner at 1850 Indian Springs Road. Plan on a great day for a long time coming to finish these trail projects.
Dress for warm weather , Dave Kirk and I spent the morning in the Hills and it was warm .
Thanks everyone for coming in advance.

Hi Great turn out for the Trail project we finished the sections planned and also work on a future project. Had lunch in the Park and Dinner in the evening. Unknown to most was one of the actors from Tremors was in the crowd.
John and Sharon drove down from Alaska , Karin and Shasa from Sacramento Jeff M and the Crew from Santa Barbara, Phil and Nancy from the Southland, James also and we had a great turn out from the local area as well Becky, Becca, and Marion Dave from the BLM lead the project and a special guest from the OHV group director from the BLM was in the area and worked all day on the trails. Bill and Rachel worked on the middle section and did the test walk to see if the trail met! Myles, Amy, Lia, Alex , Cayden and Paul, Richard, Kathy, Linda all helped for the day.
Again Thanks everyone for the help and spending the time in the Hills.
