Hi I shot a photo of the cable area and above Sunday afternoon 5 PM and another one this AM showing the weekly difference I posted on my Facebook page Doug Thompson if anyone has the tech skills to load on to here it would be great or just check the facebook .

Many are using the switchbacks now and few using the chute then the up switchback down the chute but as I posted eailer rocks are showing on the chute.

Georgia save your money on crampons but the next 2 weeks at most you will need is poles and boots with a rubber that can grip if it stays cold during the day. Many Boots are a POS in the cold since the material is not tested in cold conditions and will be hard as a rock with no traction if cold.

Jack and Betsy are doing the Whitney Talks at various A 16 Stories this week so if you get a chance you should get on down to join in. Betsy did the east face last year in a blizzard so she should have some hints about winter climbing in August!!!!

Hi Doug, so I'm thinking about a ramble next week that includes Royce Lakes and Pine Creek Pass - max altitude just under 12k. I hope that what you say about equipment on Whitney will apply there too. (I know there is a chance for precip in that period.)
Thanks as always for the good info.
Burt
(It took a minute to figure out that POS does not mean Point of Sale.
