Hi all, our June plans to hike Whitney fell through, so now we're looking at hiking end of season since those are the only day passes left. Has anyone else hiked late September and can advise on weather, temp, and potential snow? I just want to plan properly. Thanks

Also, we have 2 passes for June 19th day hike available if anyone's looking.

Hi The last several years late Sept was OK but check weather reports after people are coming down during that week DO NOT TRUST weather reports in the future days they can change very rapid. Expect warm days and cold nights say as low as 20 on the upper elevations.
Also we will have had several snow systems by that time so watch for reports of trail coverage.

Days are shorter so you will be on the trail in the dark on both ends, which is fine since the trail from Outpost to the Portal is very easy to follow.
Now the permit thing seems like you need to turn that back to the system if you do not plan on using it.

Stop by Goodland on the way out.Tell them you are on the way to see the grandson of the person that planted the first tree in Sherman County.

Yes, We are looking! We have yet to climb Whitney in the summer and would absolutely love to enjoy a summer hike. If you haven't found a place for them please contact us.

Thanks,
Scott and Hila
